Maybe it is because “Hello” is the new signature opening phrase of the new CEO? That’s also the first word he posted on Twitter/X. And maybe this is a big stretch, but when the Hello wallpaper started to populate the Mac’s, was also when Ternus assumed a bigger weight on Mac design and engineering?

So I think Hello is the new Gomonin
"Hello" was around when Ternus was about 7 years old...

“A special A20 exclusive AI feature will specifically tune it out altogether on iPhone Duo models which Apple does not want users to push the camera on”
You can’t see it from the Duo demo table 😬

Last time I tried to use the camera of an iPhone to zoom in to text, the post processing turned it into illegible garbage.
Indeed. I took a photo of the nameplate on this transformer using the 5x zoom on my 15 Pro Max, and while you can mostly read the larger text, it did some really weird postprocessing to the text so that it almost looks AI generated especially when you zoom into the image.

I'd honestly prefer that it not do this sharpening at all, and have a blurrier image that actually reflects reality. The worst thing about this crap is that you can't turn it off.

The camera like last year is 1x and 4x. 2x is just 1x cropped in just like 8x is just 4x cropped in. Optical zoom in the sense its not say 4x stretched out, but still just 4x cropped in which is why are much smaller file size for an 8x. Wish you could disable those cropped in ones in the UI. since always prefer more data, and then later on I could just crop in, where is if you take a 8x photo you can't later on go back to the full 4x full photo.
That's the thing that sorta irks me. 8x "optical quality" is not the same thing as optical. Not even close.
